Family Caregiver Assistance Program

The National Veterans Legal Services Program's (NVLSP) Family Caregiver Assistance Program is dedicated to helping veterans and family caregivers access the VA’s Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC).

What is VA’s Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC)?

This VA program provides benefits, including a monthly stipend and respite care, to family caregivers of veterans with service-connected disabilities. The stipend is designed to allow the caregiver to provide caregiving services full-time at home, if that is what the veteran needs. More information about the program and its eligibility requirements can be found in our self-help guide.
