The NVLSP family of attorneys and supporters for our veterans was saddened this week to learn of the passing of NVLSP Board Member, Joseph “Joe” Clarke Mathews on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was a successful and highly respected lawyer and partner at Hunton & Williams. His legal practice focused on a wide variety of corporate transactions. Helping others and serving the community were very important to Joe. He volunteered with his law firm’s Veterans Pro Bono Program assisting veterans and active duty personnel seeking veteran and military benefits, in addition to serving tirelessly on NVLSP’s Board of Directors. Joe was a beloved and respected lawyer, partner, mentor and friend. Joe was a man of few words, always calm no matter how chaotic the situation, and unfailingly courteous to all. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Kim, his college-age children Hunter and Madison, and his family and friends.
